Aileen, Inc. and its whollyowned subsidiary, Aileen Stores, Inc., filed for relief under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code in a New York court in late January.
The company said the filing would not affect its Flint Hill plant which manufactures pants and skirts that are carried in the Aileen stores.
According to the company's press release: "The filing...followed the company 8 inability to reach agreement with its existing lender on terms for additional lending and collateralization of the company’s unsecured credit line.”
The company said a downturn in sales during the fall and winter selling seasons and a $4.8 million loss for 1 fiscal 1993, which ended October 30, compared to net income of $1 million > for fiscal 1992, made it difficult for the company to obtain substitute financing from other lenders.
