The RCHS junior varsity basket* ball team beat all three opponents in the last week. They remain the second best JV team in the district.
Last Wednesday the JV beat Stonewall Jackson 61-42. Coach '■ Gary Leake said, “Our forwards wfere great. They assumed leadership responsibilities. There were lT'assists in this game, which is their season high.” -« Leading scorers were Jon Butler with 12, Willie Eastham with 12, and Lee Freeman with 11. According to Coach Leake, Lee Freeman, Jason Garter and Willie Eastham played their best game of the year. • On Friday the JV beat Strasburg 61-29. Coach Leake said, “We had an extremely balanced offense. Most starters got six or eight points. They played an incredible full court and half court press for an incredible defense,” he added. u ,c Jason Carter has been the leading rebounder since his ankle has healed, and Lee Freeman was the leading scorer in this game with 15 points.
The third victory of the week for the JV was their win over Clarke 4527 Saturday. Jeff Atkins and Jon Butler played identical games against Clarke. They each had three 2-pointers, two 3-pointers and two free throws.
Coach Leake said, “We were up 17-3 at one time. That is a big win on the road. We were really pleased.
