County's
Concern for
Environment
Lauded
To the Editor:
It was with a mixture of curiosity, surprise and hope that I reacted to the front page article last week which explained the county’s response to the “sludge suit. ”
In particular, I applaud the county’s consideration of provisions in federal law for more protective environmental regulations than those of the EPA (especially if there is an opportunity or need for further study, as may well be the case with sludge).
A consistent consideration for the environment has not in my opinion, been one of the county’s “strong suits” though, and I encourage our supervisors and all of our public officials in decision making positions to display a more fully focussed environmental conscience for both present and potential future community concerns.
