There is a very real possibility that the county will lose Ki Theatre.
The organization is facing a fiscal crisis, and needs funds immediately to avoid having to close down following the Exchange program with Sally Nash Feb. 19.
This would be a tragic loss, especially following the loss of the weekly movie series.
Unlike the RAAC movies, a lack of attendance at Ki Theatre performances is not the problem. Most events are sell outs or near sell outs.
Rather the problem seems to be that the performances and programs cannot carry the overall expenses of the organization.
The Board of Directors has plans to put the organization on a more financially sound footing, but needs time.
We hope the community will respond to an appeal for funds for Ki Theatre to give the directors the time needed to secure long-term support.
Meanwhile citizens need to realize that the rich variety of artistic endeavors we enjoy in Rappahannock is not guaranteed. All our arts organizations need continuing infusions of money.
