Mr. Warner also suggested the board install a partition in the basement to separate the furnace from storage space. “We cannot have combustible material in close proximity to the furnace,” he said.
The board held elections and all current officers were reelected. Dr. Young will continue to serve as president of the board and Mary Jamieson as vice-president. Helen Platt will continue as treasurer and Grace Sims as secretary.
Mrs. Platt reported that half way through the budget year, library spending is on target. She said, however, that electrical usage has been high, while heating oil bills continue to be below budget.
The board left unresolved the issue of replacing the library sign. The words “new site” have been painted out. John McCarthy said that the sign violates the zoning ordinance because it is too large. The larger sign was allowed on a temporary basis during construction, but should have been replaced.
