A shortage of operating funds has placed Ki Theatre at a crossroad. Down one road lie the remainder of Ki’s highly praised programs for 1994. (1) The Exchange, presenting Sally Nash and the Last Minute Wood Company in February, and John Jackson in March; (2) Open Theatre performances by community members in April; (3) the summer Teen Program with dancer/choreographer Sharon Wyrriek; (4) the nationally acclaimed October Crossroads; and (5) the beloved “Shepherds’ Play” and the “Three Kings’ Play” in December.
Down the other road lies closure for Ki Theatre. “That is a road we do not want to take,” said Julie Portman, founder and Artistic Director of Ki. “But unless we are immediately able to bring in additional funds, we will be forced to close.”
Deep appreciation to the community for its generous support over the past years was expressed by both Julie and the Boand of Directors. “It’s frustraing to realize we have nearly doubled our membership in 1993, and raised over $17,500 from this wonderful community, and still there is a major gap in our annual budget.
