the top four teams from the Bull Run District will qualify for the tournament, but Coach Leake feels her team’s chances are excellent. “This is the best all around team I’ve ever coached,” she said. “They have a positive attitude and work hard. We’ve improved so much since the beginning of the season. ”
The Rappahannock baseball team continues to struggle. In last Tuesday’s home game against Central they lost 3 to 15. “John Digges started and pitched three pretty good innings,” Coach Bob Howard said. “Errors hurt us in that game. Of the 15 runs, 7 were earned. Jeff Atkins and Willie Eastham also pitched well in that game. Offensively the star of the game was James Eastham, who had two hits and stole two bases. Luke Zindel was one of three with a double. He also stole a base and scored a run and had one RBI.”
On Friday at an away game with Strasburg the team lost 3 to 9, “but that was probably our best game of the season,” Coach Howard said. “J.C. Welch and Luke Zindel pitched, and they both did a good job. Offensively Jeff Atkins had one hit, two walks and scored two runs. Jason Brown had two hits also.”
Monday night the team lost at Central 2 to 30. “This was probably our worst game of the season,” Coach Howard said. “We made 17 errors.” On a positive note James Eastham went two for three with two RBI’s, he said.
After a very strong start the soccer team is struggling also. Last Tuesday in a home game they played to a 2 to 2 tie with Central. They lost 0 to 4 in an away game with Quantico, and then lost at home Mondlay night 1 to 3 in a game against Brentsville.
