For over a year, President Clkiton’s critics have been complaining about his “tax bill,” implying and sometimes claiming that his 1903 budget reduction bill included income tax raises for just about everyone. We have just had the moi$ direct possible proof that this is arfotherbiglie.
When April 15 rolled around, about 32,400 Virginians found their personal income tax rates increased, while almost 2.5 million Virginia taxpayers had either a cut or no change in their income tax rates. No manned couple had their tax rate increased unless they made more thah about $180,000 in 1993. If this seems' to the Republicans to be “just about everyone,” it is because that 1.2 percent of the population is all they ever try to serve. ! J
Working Virginians with becomes below $23,050 and at least ope child in the family had their incomfe taxes reduced. Many thousands iof these got refunds that were bigger than the tax that had been withhek^ This is an example of Clinton’s determination to serve those Americans who work hard and play by thfc rules. •
