__By CATHY SMITH V ■•ppalunnoek New* Contributing Writer « James B. “J.B.” Carter, Jr. was I honored as Amissville’s “Citizen of Jthe'Year” on Thursday, April 21 for »hia outstanding service to the comimumty as Chief of the Amissville t Volunteer Fire Department of Res'cue Squad. * The presentation was made by the Amiss ville Ruritan Club president Roger Cordani. This is an annual award made by the Ruritan Club to recognize outstanding citizens in the community.
J.B.’s special moment was shared by his wife Sandra and his ' parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. “Bobby” Carter, Sr. Following the ceremony, the family proceeded to 'J.B.’s grandmother’s, Mrs. Julia Poe, to help her celebrate her 89th birthday.
J.B. was unaware he was receiving the award. He had been asked to brief the Ruritan Club on the Fire Department’s activities planned for the year. He did make a brief presentation, followed by questions by ; the auidence, which mainly centered around how service would be iro‘pacted to Culpeper residents now being served by Amissville Volunteer Fire Department, after Little Pork Volunteer Fire Department becomes operational, since most of ,the Club’s members live in Culpeper County.
