Job Fair Brings

Well over 150 job seekers attended the Job Fair at the Amissville Fire Hall last Wednesday.
The fair, sponsored by Congressman Frank Wolf, had been put together in response to hearing that the Aileen plant in Flint Hill will be closing in October. Representatives from 22 businesses and agencies were on hand to antswer questions and provide printed information regarding their job opportunities to interested parties.
Four of the companies were Rappahannock County employers: Appetite Repair Shop, Faith Mountain Company, The Inn at Little Washington, and Rappahannock County Schools. Andy Caviness was representing Wrangler, which has plants in Luray and Madison. More people seemed to be crowded around his table than piy of the others.
Another company with production type jobs was Specialty Weavers of Orange, which produces rayon velvet. ARA Virginia Skyline Co., which runs the(food concessions in Shenandoah National Park, was looking for employees who would be interested in seasonal work, as they close down for most of the winter.
Sharon Pyne of the Virginia Employment Commission offered The Job Hunting Handbook, which is full of helpful information regarding resumes, interviews, how to choose an occupation, and the job outlook for 180 occupations.
