“If you use the watershed it splits Chester Gap right up the middle,” Mr. Gilkey said.
The issue came up with the mapping for the E-911 emergency system. Sheriff John Henry Woodward and Mr. McCarthy said it also concerns law enforcement. If the property is actually in Warren County then Rappahannock County deputies and the animal control officer have no jurisdiction.
There are other subdivisions in Chester Gap that are affected, and there are a few property owners in the area who believe they are in Warren County and pay taxes in Warren County who actually live in Rappahannock County.
