That land has proven to be a prime place for growing apples. Mr. Naumann originally planned to have 15 or 20 trees, but when he began seeing the antique apple varieties in catalogs, he “just got interested in it,” he said. When he received a catalog from Miller Nurseries of Canandaigua, New York, he ordered one of every antique apple tree they offered, a total of 28 trees.
