The music both challenged and displayed and talents of Mr. Barton and Ms. Briedis. The duet they sang from Verdi’s La Traviata called for dramatic as well as vocal skills. The clarity of enunciation of both singers showed excellent training and the purity of their voices rang out beautifully.
The program lasted from 4-6 p.m., which was particularly convenient time for the audience which was invited to a reception after the concert at Mr. and Mrs. Barton’s home, The Meadows, located within walking distance of the theater.
The success of this thoroughly delightful occasion should encourage the Friends of the Library to seek out another Sunday afternoon event in the future. The benefit to the Library is in excess of $1,000.
