Send them to jail!
No, I’m not talking about criminals and not just to any jail.
I’m suggesting that every member of the General Assembly take a trip to the Arlington County Jail to see just what’s wrong with our criminal “justice” system.
If the Allen-Gilmore proposal to abolish parole in Virginia passes next week, many prisoners will spend more time behind bars. Opponents of the plan say it’s too expensive, but that depends on what kind of prisons you build,- and what you do with the ones we already have.
The best example of this is Arlington County’s ‘Tale of Two Jails.”
Jail Number One: Arlington’s Democrats have just opened the new, expensive, luxurious Arlington County Jail and Courthouse Complex including such amenities as group kitchens for prisoners, cable TV, numerous basketball courts and much much more.
Jail Number Two: is the “old” County Jail. It was renovated and enlarged just 10 years ago and capable of holding nearly 400 prisoners. Not as comforably as the “new” Jail,
