Dale and Debbie Welch were called. Along with Abigail Gille, Mrs. Welch ran Sandy Hook Stables, Inc., and rented the barn from the Semrnes family to board horses for other clients. Horse veterinarians Steve White and Todd Burdick came. Sherry Hamill-Huff, a member of the Flint Hill Fire and Rescue team, drove to the bam, having missed the truck. Dr. Werner Krebser saw the fire from his house and notified neighbor Gus Forbush, who got on his horse to help round up the runaways. Because of the snow on the ground, it was easier to find them by following their tracks.
