Ms. Bennett said that two of the horses are badly burned, but the other four got out completely unscathed. All of the horses have been relocated to a bam at the Alfred Kummli’s on Route 637. The burned horses will recover, but that will take from six to eight months. They were burned when the roof of the bam, constructed of asphalt and impregnated plywood, melted onto their backs.
When let out of the stalls, the horses took off running, some breaking through a fence. Some ended up four miles away from the farm, which is located on U.S. 522 in Huntly. Ms. Bennett said that many, many people helped round up the horses and came to offer assistance at the site of the bam.
