Sixteen members of Old Rag Pony Club competed in the recent U.S. Pony Club regional Know-Down held in Vienna.
An unmounted competition, Know-Down tests participants knowledge in many areas of horsemanship. Teams are divided by age and rating.
The Old Rag Junior D team of Alexe van Beuren, captain, Lauren Thornhill, and John Baumgardner placed first. Shannon Mullan, captain, Anna Kreyling, Brook Agee, and Ginny Caldwell were second, while i the team of Ashley Corbin, captain, Stacey Woodward, and Laura Kreyling was fifth.
In the Junior C division, Elena Thornhill, captain, Dana Caldwell, ■ and Lars Lyman were fifth.
In the Senior C division, Caroline ! Baumgardner participated in a “scramble team” which placed seventh.
This was a very successful outing, and Old Rag Pony Club, one of the » newest clubs in this region, is very * proud of its members’ achievements. !
Last year Old Rag had two members, Alexe van Beuren and Elena Thornhill, who competed in the National Know-Down. To compete in Nationals, a pony club member must be one of four top scorers.
Old Rag Pony Club will be hold- » ing a Dressage Rally May 20th and I 21st at Commonwealth Park in Culpeper, and invites the public to come out and support local youth.
