The birds of prey will be just part of the outdoor educational fun. There will be various short, informative walks and programs for the entire family. Explore streams, woods and fields. Discover the plants and animals that inhabit them. Learn about the soil and water that sustain life.
For the young and young-at-heart there will be programs on the wonders of nature. Featured at 2 p.m. will be a presentation on “creepy crawlies” with lots of live examples, a frog-jumping demonstration and turtle race.
Before, between and after the programs you can visit the exhibit area, where you will find valuable information about the environment. Lots of interesting folks will be on hand to answer questions and chat.
Among the featured exhibits are those from the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District, Virginia Department of Forestry, Department of Conservation and Recreation, Virginia Department of Transportation, Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
There is information on how to get involved with the Environmental Education Center, the Izaak Walton League, and various local natural history day camps.
Visit the petting zoo of farm animals. See Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s miniature electrical village and DCR’s enviroscape demonstrated. Learn about and see some fine examples of llamas. Participate in creating a community art mural.
