“Regular education money is spent on all students, including special education students as regular classes are available to special education students whenever they can handle mainstream subjects,” Mrs. Piper said. “They are maintreamed for all non-academics and for academics to the highest degree possible,” she added.
To get the figures Mrs. Piper had to go through the accounts of how much money was spent in almost every category last year. Most figures for federal aid are subtracted from expenditures, on instructions from the state.
Then these numbers are divided by the number of students in regular and special education at each school to get the per pupil figures.
