daughter and son-in law Marie and James Jordan and two grandchildren Derek, 6, and Shamita, 16, in the next house up river from Pat and Kirk Davis’s house in Harris Hollow.
On Tuesday June 27 Mr. Jordan left at 4:30 a.m., as he usually does, to drive into the city to work. At that time the rain had not yet produced much Hooding.
By 5:30 a.m. Mrs. Fletcher saw the water swirling around a tree across the road and decided the family should move to the Roy house on higher ground.
They watched as the river poured around their house, but did not realize how much damage was being done until the waters receded.
The river had pushed through the up river side of the house washing out most of what was in its path.
Mrs. Fletcher said they were able to recover some photographs and two mirrors, and they found her silver in the mud. Everything else was lost from the house.
Mrs. Jordan was able to get her husband at work and he drove home. He had to walk in much of the way wading through water and together the family waded out again. Mrs. Fletcher
