construction could not begin for three or four years, Mr. Moore wrote.
Mr. Estes said to put in the additional lane, it would be necessary to cut back the bank on the north side of U.S. 211, which would also improve site distance for those traveling either east or west on U.S. 211.
Mr. Estes said about half the traffic approaching the intersection traveling west turns left on U.S. 522, and about half continues on U.S. 211.
E-911
Mr. McCarthy said Bell Atlantic will not swith customers with 937, 547 and any other Culpeper exchanges to E-911 when the rest of the county is switched over August 1.
He explained that is because Culpeper County is not ready to be switched over yet although they started the process of preparing for E-911 two years before Rappahannock started. Customers on Culpeper exchanges have basic 911 now. Their calls to 911 are routed to the dispatch center in Culpeper, and if the call is disconnected, the dispatch center is able to dial back although it cannot identify where the call is coming from, a feature of E-911.
