The Rappahannock Monarchs clinched first place in the Apple Valley Baseball League when New Market forfeited their double header on Sunday.
New Market Coach Jeff Poole said New Market had enough players to field a team, but the players decided on Saturday night it would be too hot on Sunday to play a double header.
League Commissioner, Carlton Omdorff ruled that New Market had forfeited the games because the other two teams in the league, Edinburg and Woodstock played their Sunday doubleheader.
