Transplant To Outdoiys
When fall comes, set the plants where you want them or transplant them to an empty row in the garden so they can get established outdoors. When cold weather comes in late fall, protect the plants with a light, loose covering of straw, hay, or evergreen branches. Since pansy leaves stay green all winter, this mulch material must not pack down tightly as it might smother them.
As soon as the first warm days of spring arrive, the pansies will be full of buds. Remove the mulch carefully. Plants that were set in a garden row can be moved to where you want them. Take a generous ball of soil with each plant and reset them six inches apart. Water thoroughly and enjoy the beauty of your efforts.
