Mr. Kramer also taught them how to look for snakes, and they were successful in finding many of those too. They found a black racer, northern water, copperhead, ringneck, and a black rat snake. Counsellor Kyle Apple handled the black rat snake which became somewhat tame.

Mrs. Purnell said that Mr. Kramer’s campers were so excited when they brought their caught specimens back to camp, and so were the other campers. The specimens were kept in terrariums for the week and were released on the last day to their respective habitats.
