It’s ironic and unfair that the jurisdictional battles Culpeper is having over where its dispatch center is to be located will mean that many Rappahannock customers of Bell Atlantic won’t have access to Enhanced 911 until Culpeper gets its own system underway.
It seems highly unlikely that the Culpeper governing body will volunteer to have their Bell Atlantic customers lose the call back feature they now have so Rappahannock customers can be connected.
All of this comes about because over the years the State Corporation Commission has allowed utility companies to establish their “territories” with no regard for the state’s own political subdivision boundaries. Somehow that always seems to work to Rappahannock’s disadvantage.
