The art auction at Middle St. Gallery last weekend raised over $10,000.
That figure will be split between the gallery and artists, who each receive 50 percent of the sales price. Eighty percent of the proceeds from the Rick Hart sculpture, which was auctioned off for $4,000, is being donated by Mr. Hart to the Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly. The remaining 20 percent goes to the gallery.
The auction was well attended, with many bidders who were also at last year’s auction. Gallery members Robin Purnell and Laurie Marshall worked at the Sunday auction, describing each piece of artwork and the artist who created it. Besides Ms. Purnell and Ms. Marshall, several other Rappahannock artists also had artwork in the live auction — Sandra Forbush, Dan Lewis, Barbara Heile Sherwood, June Jordan, Rex Slack, Jeremy Slack, Ned Bittinger, Peggy Schadler, Stephen Wagner, Jeff MacNelly and Lois Manookian.
