supports Sue Scheer. It could also be said that we see the same things differently.
Jay Katzen has proven himself a very able representative of the county, ' but not only that, he has proven himself our friend as well. So when Ms. VanNess scrunches up her face and says Jay “rents a house, doesn’t pay any real estate tax” it hurts me to see him attacked so.
Jay and his wife, Paddy, are paying rent and not racking up equity in a home because they have been paying college tuition for their three sons.Jay is committed to education.
Ms. Marshall hit the nail on the head. “The children are watching.” Our high school students have probably noticed that the Rappahannock News agreed with the president of the Virginia Education Association in the Oct. 11th issue when you said the bill that Del. Katzen and one other delegate voted against was only a “shell game” or a phony bill. And then they hear Sue Scheer on radio and read her printed advertising using the lie over and over again that Katzen voted against education funding based on this vote.
Perhaps some were present at the forum I was invited to when Ms. Scheer stated that, “SAT scores are not going down in the state,” while every paper in the commonwealth has written about declining SAT and Literacy Passport test scores.
Some high school seniors have told me that they believe Ms. Scheer is a little reckless with the truth. Perhaps this is why Supervisors Wilbur Burton, a Democrat, in 1993 failed to re-appoint Ms. Scheer to her seat on the Planning Commission in Fauquier County stating, “It would be in the best interest of Cedar Run District to appoint someone else.”
We should not wonder .why our schools are doing poorly when Democrats like Sue Scheer and her supporters have been totally in charge of our schools until the Allen administration in January 1994.
Democrats are trying to hold on to their thin margin in the General Assembly and are frantically pushing their liberal candidate here in Rappahannock County. Do we want the lies, hypocrisy and low standards
