Development Screening Set
The Rappahannock County Public School System is sponsoring a free developmental screening for children birth to 21 years of age from 1 until 3 p.m. through Nov. 21.
Most children show regular signs of growth during the first five years. Children who do not meet these developmental milestones may need immediate or future special services. The children will be checked for development in the areas of speech and language, general development, social skills and vision. This screening is not designed to determine if a child a ready for Kindergarten. There is no charge to the parents for this screening. Referrals for evaluation are also being accepted for children five to 21 inclusive. For more information, please call Rappahannock Elementary School at 987-8259.
Retired Teachers To Meet
Rappahannock retired teachers will meet at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Washington Baptist Church. Mr. John Harris, legislative chairman of District N will give the retirees information of upcoming legislature which will be of interest to them.
Theatre and Dance at Ki Theatre
“Steps to the Edge” on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11 will feature two exciting new works by local performers at Ki Theatre. Joyce Abell will present the heartwrenching story, “Sally,” the fourth in her series about Southern women. Sharon Wyrrick will bring her newest and one of her most searching choreographed dance-theatre pieces.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Cabin Fever in Washington or Mountainside Market in Sperryville, or call Ki Theatre at 675-1616. Advance tickets are $10; half-price for children
Dinner, Auction Planned
Celebrity Sports dinner and auction sponsored by the Boy Scout Troop 200 of Flint Hill will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 4, at Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company building. The auction will begin at 7 p.m.
Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children 11 and under. A ravioli dinner is included in ticket price. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $4 adults and $2.50 for children by calling 635-9601 or 675-1657.
Sighting In Days at 4-H Center
“Hunters who need a place to site in their Black Powder or high power hunting rifles are invited to Sighting In Days at the new range at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal. Sighting In Days will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. Target ranges of 50 and 100 yards are available.
The 4-H Center is located off U.S. 522 just south of Front royal. Donations will be accepted for the 4-H Center Range Development Fund. Contact your local 4-H Office at 675-3619 for additional information.
