The Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary launched its 1995 “Lights For Life” campaign in October, in celebration of Fauquier Hospital’s 37th anniversary- sary“Lights
For Life” is an annual fund raising event to support Auxiliary projects. Donations from the public are represented as lights on three spruce trees on Hospital Hill which are lit at an annual ceremony. This year’s tree lighting ceremony will beheld at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6 on the hospital grounds.
The annual tree lighting has become a popular community function, marking the beginning of the ' holiday season. Each year several ~ hundred people attend the event, which includes special music and refreshments.
One light is placed on the trees for each donation of $5 or more. . Lights typically are placed on the trees in honor or in memory of someone special to the donor. A card announcing each gift is sent to the family of the individual being honored. Both the names of the donors and of those being honored then appear in the “Lights For Life” memorial book and in the event program. General gifts also are appreciated..
Each year the Auxiliary saves the “Light at the Top of the Tree” for someone special to the Auxiliary and the community. This year the light will "honor Dr. Robert W. Iden, beloved physician and community benefactor who passed away this . year.
