Rappahannock Newt Contributing Writer Z'~ The Rappahannock Varsity Lady Panthers dropped two more games • Jast week. The Panthers traveled to ‘e. Page County High School Tuesday ^ night where an excited Page team - handed the Panthers a 69-43 defeat. .« The overanxious Panthers committed 22 fouls for the game which led to a disrupted game plan and lack of any continuity. Angie Atkins • scored a teamhigh 12 points while shooting guard Kylene Wolfe added 9 of her own.
The Junior Varsity Panthers fell hard to Page by a score of 45-9. Point guard Sonya Wigington was left out of action with a sore ankle. Without their primary ball handler the Panthers committed excessive turnovers and had a nonexistent offense in the first half where they were shutout. However, the Panthers regrouped at half time to score 9 points in the second half. Alice Gentry, who assumed the point guard duties, scored 4 points.
Both Panther teams returned • home Thursday night for parent’s - night. The Varsity ladies suffered a slow start but still produced a strong effort against the Eagles of Clarke County for a final score of 52-33.
Rappahannock’s offense was inconsistent as it looked great for one moment and nonexistent the next. The Panthers shot 35 percent from the field for the game. Junior guard Kylene Wolfe led the Panthers with 12 points. Senor forward Cari Kerr also broke double figures for 11 points to go with 11 rebounds.
The Junior Varsity was sparked by the return of their star, Sonya Wigington, to produce an exciting 3126 narrow defeat against the Clarke JV. Sonya came off of the bench late in the first quarter and immediately lifted the Panthers. She went on to score a game high 21 points including seven unanswered points to open the
