Support Gov. George Allen and vote for Jay Katzen, as 1 will; and I’m also supporting Rick Wood for School Board. Ask your supervisor and school board candidates whom they support before Nov. 7 and let that guide you in your decision on every race.

Next Tuesday Rappahannock voters will choose who will be our Sheriff for the next four years and we are fortunate to have a choice between candidates whose background, training and experience suggests each is qualified to fill the job. How then do we choose who will serve us as chief law enforcement officer of our county?
I believe there are two factors that best define this race and provide a clearer picture of what is at stake in a county that is very much in the midst of change. Look at our ridgetops, visit little Washington or Sperryville on the weekends or look at all the new fences along our roads. Like it or not, we are a county in transition and a great deal of sensitivity is required to insure what makes us such a unique place to live is not lost in the process. Our Sheriff must be aware of these issues as well as understand the external influences impinging on our county and be prepared with a vision of how to protect and respond to the best interests ■ of the citizens of Rappahannock.
