Historical Society Meeting Set j
The fall quarterly meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society ; will be held on Nov. 5 at the Town Hall on Gay Street in Washington. ; The meeting will begin at 3 p.m.
The guest speaker will be well-known local architect, Mr. Dwight Matthews of Flint Hill. The program topic is dating Techniques for • Historic Buildings. Joining Mr. Matthews will be Mr. Christopher Owens . of Madison County, a contractor who has done work on National Trust for Historic Preservation properties, and who is currently working on Ash Lawn, the home of James Monroe. Together, Mr. Matthews and Mr. Ownes will share personal experiences in their research and restoration ; projects, and present a variety of clues to a structure’s age.
Achievement Night Planned
The Rappahannock Extension Homemakers FCE will have their annual Achiwement Night Program at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 at . Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
7th Alumni Basketball Tournament
Any rmjle who has graduated from Rappahannock County High School ana wl^oj/ interested in participating in the Seventh Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament should contact Kelly Settle or Mike Tupper at Rappahannock County High School between 8 a.m. — 4 p.m. | before Nov. 17. “We will need four coaches and approximately 50 play- ; ers. There will be a $10 registration fee and it will be due to the school * by Nov. 19,” said Mrs. Settle.

Spring Mountain Waldorf School’s Fundraising Auction will be held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Washington Fire Hall with Bill Payne, Auctioneer. “Spring Mountain auctions have become known as the bargain-hunter’s paradise for furniture, the arts, vacations, gifts, and one-ofa-kind items,” according to Auction Chairwoman Sally Walker.
