It is easy to list areas of training that are mandated by the state and build a smoke screen that hides the real issues at hand. I bring you advanced training in the areas of supervision, crisis management, Civil liability, drug/criminal enforcement, community policing, juvenile crime, constitutional law, arrest procedures, search and rescue, office management and a number of other areas. As I am a certified state instructor I can provide additional training to members of the Sheriffs Office at no cost to the tax payers of the county. It is my goal to make sure that all deputies are trained to handle all situations. Mandatory follow-up calls on all investigations should be conducted to assure that all leads have been exhausted to grant the victims relief in a time of need. A phone call to the victim to reassure them that the Sheriff s Office is continuing their efforts to bring their case to a logical conclusion should be included.
Currently the Sheriff speaks of a 47.5 percent clearance rate for Rappahannock County. I did some research myself in this area, and what 1 found out was that in 1994 the clearance rate was 28 percent for Rappahannock County.
