Eddie Sause and Chris Sause also placed in the top fifteen, with Eddie taking seventh overall and Chris at twelfth. Jennings Hobson and Chris Dennis were Rapp’s third and fourth I runners, placing 21st and 32nd. Jesse Rogers (35th) and Caleb Proper (36th) rounded out the team.
The Panthers girls' team was also successful in advancing to the regional meet, netting fourth with a score of 99. The Brentsville girls were crowned champions for 1995, beating out Centra] 49 to 79. George Mason took third at 98 points, with Rapp right behind them at 99. Stonewall Jackson was fifth with 106 points, Strasburg sixth at 111 points, and Clarke seventh with 132 points. Page and Manassas Park did not field full teams.
Brentsville’s Devon Moore won the race at 19:35. The first girl from Rappahannock was Jessie Gheen, running a time of 21:14 and placing sixth. Holly Gangel was second for Rapp, also earning herself a medal by placing in the top fifteen at eighth place. Caroline Baumgardner (21st), Lauren Sharp (31st), Emily Sims (33rd), Myriam Lathuille (38th), and Robyn Kaye (42nd) were Rapp’s third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh runners.
Coach Dave van de Graaff was pleased with how smoothly the meet went and with how the Panthers did. He’s very excited about the teams, which he calls the best since he’s started coaching.
