His constituents must be pleased with the job Del. Jay Kaizen, R-31st District, is doing in Richmond. Few came out to talk to him for the scheduled meeting with voters in the county library last Thursday.
Del. Katzen is also campaigning for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor of Virginia in the 1997 election. The state Republican Party committee has decided that it will select its candidates for governor, lieutenant gov*emor and attorney general in a primary June 10, 1997.
Del. Katzen said he is very pleased with that decision and, in fact, had written to the party chairman requesting a primary. The timing of that will enable him to qualify for another run for the House of Delegates if he fails to win the nomination for lieutenant governor.
Del. Katzen is running behind in most polls. Coleman Andrews leads with Larry Hager also ahead of Del. Katzen among those who have heard of the contest for lieutenant governor, but that is a very small percentage of potential voters in a Republican primary. However, it does not appear that current state Attorney General Jim Gilmore will have any opposition in seeking the
