Since Mrs. Ethel Tyner returned from wintering with her son in Palmyra, I’ve tried to visit her, if possible, once a week or at least every two weeks. Seeing her at church every two weeks just doesn’t seem enough. How I love this dear lady. We talk, mostly she talks and I listen, and I try to record what she says, especially when certain subjects are brought up. She’s always jolly, seldom complains and is ever ready to receive a visitor. Living alone at one hundred plus years can not be but lonely when no one visits.
When I visit I like to take her out for lunch. We usually go to the Appetite Repair Shop in downtown Sperryville. Although, it’s always a little cool for her, the front step a little too high, and maybe the music somewhat loud for a hearing impaired person, we make out very well. She can’t see good enough to read the menu so
