The weather was lovely Saturday morning as people gathered at the county park for the dedication of a memorial to Kirk Davis, who drowned in the June 1995 flood.
The memorial was an Eagle Scout project for Jennings Carney of Boy Scout Troop 36. Mr. Davis has been a volunteer assistant with the troop, and Jennings had had an especially close relationship with him.

. the river and selected a site with a prominent rock he wanted to make a part of the memorial. Along with 10 to 12 of his fellow Boy Scouts, Jennings brought in fill dirt and rocks from across the Rush River, built a rock wall to hold the fill making a level area, built a series of steps down to the memorial site and built a wooden bench to sit on while quietly watching the river flow by.
