Last Thursday, Tracy Cook of U.S. 211 in Amissville reported that someone had entered her house and taken a 20-inch RCA color television and a rifle. Major Rick MacWelch of the Sheriff’s Office said that matter is under investigation.
Last Thursday morning at about 5 a.m., an accident took place between Earl K. Jewell, 32, of Castleton, in a 1984 Buick, and Roger D. Lam, 50, of Castleton, in a 1992 GMC. According to State Trooper W.A. Sumner’s report, Mr. Jewell came over a hill, hit his brakes and slid into Mr. Lam’s vehicle. No one was injured in the accident which took place on Route 626, 1 1/2 miles east of U.S. 522, near Scrabble. Mr. Jewell was charged with reckless driving.
Mr. Jewell’s vehicle had $1,400 damage and Mr. Lam’s GMC had $900 damage.
On Saturday morning at about 4' a.m., Charles Thomas, 19, of Stanley, was southbound in a 1995 Toyota pickup on U.S. 522, 150 feet south of Route 632 in Huntly, when he ran off the right side of the road and overturned. He was not injured, but was charged by Trooper C.A. Moore with reckless driving. His pickup had $10,000 damage.
