“Lion of the Year” honors went to Robert L. Anderson. Mr. Anderson most recently helped the Lions provide the Rappahannock County Schools with a sound proof booth for hearing testing. Mr. Anderson also spoke of Mr. Nichols’ community service efforts.
Being one of the oldest (non-charter) members in the club, Mr. Anderson has served in a variety of areas has headed up the sight and hearing Screening Van activity, chaired the Health Services Committee, and is always ready and available for the Auction, apple butter making and selling, Fourth of July activities.
This year he designed and fabricated a system of displaying and keeping track of,the numbers at the draw-down raffle. Also, this year he agreed to serve as club historian.
Charter Monarch and life member Raymond Johnson was also recognized.
Awards were also given to several other Lions and other community members for their various contributions. Among those, “Distinguished Service Award” to Lions Carson Johnson (the club’s only other Charter Member), J.R. Goolsby, and Roger Andrews. “Outstanding Secretary” went to Club Secretary, Kenneth L.
