A poet who has published two books of his poetry, he described his painting by saying, “The effort is to express the poetry of the moment” He further explains that his paintings are about a moment in time, such as the way the light it at a certain moment. It might not really be about the picture, he said. He believes that both the paintings and his poems catch the spirit of the moment.
The following poem by Mr. Robertson stars the church bell at Trinity Episcopal Church:
The Bell this day is some mad painter’s dream the mountain is a crazed quilt of orange and yellow red and green sky is a violent blue and overstufifed white clouds splash hills below with brilliant beams polished by chill gusts
a church bell rings sanctified invasion of silent village air and for whom tolls this bell if the bell were mine I would set the mountains singing for no purpose but to hear the ringing
Many years ago, Lee Robertson wondered what one person could do to make a difference. “I felt that art could make a difference,” he said.
