If you are fortunate enough to have your mother alive this Mother’s Day, you are encouraged to visit with her and/or write her a letter.

Ever wonder how Mother’s Day got started? President Woodrow Wilson signed an Act of Congress in 1914 making the^second Sunday in May a definite time when we might all think about mother, and express our love to her in the best way possible.

The idea to set aside one day of the year on which to pay homage to mothers was conceived by Anna M. Jarvis in the early 1900's. Her own mother had died on the second Sunday in May 1905, so she suggested this particular Sunday for tHe observance.

Anna Jarvis urged everyone to.
