Take Honors

Rappahannock County should be very proud by the representation of our 4-Her’s at the Northern District 4H Competition held April 26 at the Culpeper Middle School.
Competing against 14 counties, Rappahannock 4-Her’s did a great job. Anne-Ashleigh Lamma, Wendy Gillis, Ruth Oyster and Jamie Gillis placed first in their respective categories.
Jamie will represent the County at state competition in Blacksburg during 4-H State Congress. Devin Day, Justin Burger, Tommy Pendleton, Brittney Lee, Hope Jacobs, Nathan Jacobs and Robin Oyster placed second in their respective categories. Jamie Jacobs placed third in her respective category. We are very proud of these 4-Her’s.
David Massie competed at the county level for Public Speaking and placed first with a very informative speech on swine. Ashley Corbin placed second at the Northern District 4-H Competition in the area of Horse Bowl.
June is Dairy Month. The poster contest is quickly approaching. This year’s theme is “Got Milk?” The three age groups aret: Junior, ages 9-11, Intermediate, ages 12-13, Senior, ages 14-19. Every entry will receive a participation award. First, second and third place winners receive ribbons. The top three posters in each group will advance to state competition. Call the Extension Office for more details, 675-3619. Any teen, age 13-19, interested in being a teen counselor for the County’s 4-H Day Camp, June 23-27 should call the Extension Office.
