A piano and trombone recital to be presented by Leslie Nichols and Richard Human on May 18 at The Theatre at Washington should be put on everyone’s calendar.
Ms. Nichols, a native of Rappahannock County who graduated from Rappahannock County High School in 1988, said, “I am doing this for the benefit of the community.” She hopes that the recital will inspire current and potential music students in Rappahannock. Their goal will be to show the fun side of music, she said.
Some of the musical selections will be performed solo by Ms. Nichols on the piano and others by her accompanied by Richard Human, a longtime friend and fellow college student, on the trombone. Works will be by Watson, Larsson, Persichetti, Chopin, Scriabin, Berghmans and Debussy.
Ms. Nichols wjll be renting a Kawai grand piano just for the performance. That will cost her a grand total of $600 for the day. There is an upright piano in the Theatre, but it is not really suitable for a concert pianist to perform on, said Ms. Nichols. The sound from a grand piano is much superior to
