Relay for Life to be held this year at Airlie in Fauquier on May 30. This will be Libby’s fourth cancer relay. Her first team was Libby’s Lady’s in 1994. In 1995 her team was the Brady Bunch (Brady is her maiden name) and in 1996 she went to Loudoun to walk with the hospital’s team. This year she’ll be back in Fauquier with the Brady Bunch. She’ll also be on another support team.
“I don’t live holding my breath,” Libby said. “I live each day to the fullest and thank God for that day.”
“I took control of my life. I had to be in control and take control of the medical part. I had to do that,” she said. “Dr. Simms let me do that. I wish everybody had a doctor like Dr. Simms.”
Libby said there’s always a possibility that the cancer will come back, “I have learned so much about the illness and with God’s help, if it comes back, I’ll get through it. I don’t have the fear I did before.”
Libby said that five members of her family, including herself, have been diagnosed with cancer. Her sister had breast and thyroid cancer but she has had no re-occurrence. Her sister’s grandchild was diagnosed with tumors behind his eyes when he was an infant. Two of her brothers-ilvlaw have had
