In part, the Certificate of Recognition of Law Enforcement Month signed by Gov. Allen says, citing the 12 percent drop in the rate of violent crime in Virginia, “These successes would not have been possible without the dedicated support of the many brave and dedicated law enforcement officers who, often at risk to their own lives, work to ensure that Virginia’s citizens can pursue the blessings of liberty, a birthright of all Americans, free from the scourge and devastation of crime.”
The dedicated law enforcement professionals in Virginia include, said Gov. Allen, local police officers, sheriffs, deputies, state troopers, ABC agents, judges, Commonwealth’s Attorneys, Capitol Police, game wardens, marine resources commission officers and all other law enforcement officers, who merit our deepest admiration, respect and gratitude.
