Artsfest provided three creative and exciting days for students at Rappahannock County Elementary School last week.
Organized by teacher Amy Gubler, along with Linda Tarry, Susan McCarthy and Jan Makela, Artsfest gave nearly every class a chance to learn something new each of the three days. Artists, nearly all local, donated their time, and the school, PTO and gifted and talented funds provided the materials and provided help with parent volunteers. The Curriculum Enrichment Program also brought in a storyteller and cartoonist to teach the kids.
Each artist taught at least three classes, for 45 minutes to an hour each.
On Tuesday, artists in the school were Joy Luke (color system lecture), Beth Levick (harp music), Norman Getsinger (dressed as Mark Twain), Barbara Sherwood (full spectrum seeing), Patti Mullan (demonstration with stained glass), Lois Snead (dried flower arrangements), Pat Salmon (acrylic painting), Peter Kramer (furniture design), Kim Doyle (dance) and Celine Siira (flower arranging).
