Zoning Changes Planned
The Rappahannock County Planning Commission will hold a ’ public hearing on the Conservation Zoning District Land •Development regulations on May 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the courthouse. We urge citizens to attend this meeting to better inform themselves about these proposed changes.
The Board of Supervisors will consider the amendments proposed to them by the Planning Commission in the near future. These amendments are changes to the Erosion and Sediment Control Chapter of the Rappahannock County Code and would create further regulations and restrictions on residential construction in Conservation Zoning Districts, including provisions which would require setbacks from highest elevations, preparation of Erosion and Sediment Control plans and road and driveway construction standards.
Citizens may obtain a copy of these proposed amendments from the County Administration Office in Washington, Va.
This has been and continues to be an issue of much debate in the county. Many have indicated they believe these amendments are a step in the right direction but even more needs to be done. If this issue affects you, will affect you in the future or is of importance to you, you should not miss this meeting.
Celebrate EMS Week
Rappahannock County is blessed with an abundance of volunteers who pitch in whenever the need arises.
Many of these volunteers work in emergency medical services with the fire and rescue companies throughout the county. Please remember these dedicated and hard-working individuals this week especially, which is EMS week. Make a point to go down to your locaffire and rescue company — introduce yourself, make new friends, and thank those wonderful people who not only put their lives on the line to save others but leave the comfort of their homes to respond to emergencies. They do it because they love their community.
They are your neighbors, your friends, and may someday save ; your life. Be sure to show them your appreciation by telling them thanks, by volunteering some of your own time, or by making a donation.
