Sixteen RCHS track team members will be competing in the regional meet at the University of Virginia this Friday.
The athletes all placed sixth or better in the district meet held at Manassas Park last Wednesday in order to qualify for regionals.
Other teams competing in the meet were Brentsvi lie, Manassas Park and George Mason. Though the weather was windy, the conditions were otherwise excellent for a track meet.
Other honors were bestowed on some of the athletes besides advancing to the regionals. Dawn Havstad was named the district champion for discus and Adam Starks was named the district champion for 300 meter hurdles. Both placed first in their respective events.
Dawn threw the discus 85’2”, which easily beat the second place
