At various times she served as curator of costumes for the Valentine Museum and as a teacher of sculpture at Richard Bland College and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. When arthritis ended her career as a sculptor she turned to painting as her second love. A one-man show of her work at the Janus Gallery in Washington, D.C., in 1976 won critical acclaim.
Miss Pietri was not only a talented artist but also an accomplished cook. In 1987 Oxmoor House published an autobiographical book of her recipes, “A Pinch of This and a Soupeon of That”
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, columnist James J. Kilpatrick, former editor of the Richmond News Leader, by three sons, Sean Kilpatrick of Woodville, Christopher Kilpatrick of Laurel Mills and Kevin Kilpatrick of Tallahassee, Fla; seven grandchildren; her mother, and one sister, Bernice Nestor, of Richmond.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Va., on Friday, May 16 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Woodville.
Patricia Boyle
Patricia Eleanor Berry Boyle, 77, of Boca Raton, Fla., died April 7 at her residence.
She was bom Feb. 5, 1920, in Manassas, to the late George William Berry, a native of Woodville, Rappahannock County and his wife, Ellyn Lynch Berry. '
Mrs. Boyle was retired after 25 years as an accountant for Southern Railroad in Washington, D.C. She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, Highland Beach, Fla., and of Mary Bartlett Chapter, Washington, D.C., Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her twin sister, Mrs. John Beauregard (Margaret) Ragland of Boca Raton, Fla.; her son, Patrick Lynch Boyle of Oakland, Calif.; her nephew^ William Armistead Ragland of Alexandria; her nieces, Melanie Zimmer Wooten of Upper Marlboro, Md., Rebecca Berry Rutledge of Waldorf, Md., and Ellen Sue Berry Foley of Brewster, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, George Chadweil Berry and Joseph Fitzgerald Berry, and a sister, Mary Barr Zimmer.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 16 at 11 a.m. when her ashes will be interred in the Lynch family plot, Manassas Cemetery, Centreville Road, Manassas.
Blasius-Baker Funeral Home in Manassas is handling arrangements.
Charles Wood
Charles E. Wood, 81, of Boston, died on Friday, May 9 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Wood was bom on July 28, 1915, in Hudson, Mass., to the late William Webster Clark Wood and Winnie A. Fiske Wood.
