The Charlottesville District of the United Methodist Church is sending a mission team to Clendenin, W.Va. to help repair homes and churches that have been flood damaged. Amissville United Methodist Church took a special collection for this mission on Mother’s Day and several members hope to be a part of the team being sent between May 18 and May 24.
At the April 18 meeting of the Amissville Ruritans held at the Western Sizzlin’ in Warrenton, plans were discussed for an auction scheduled for Saturday, May 17. John Ferdetta, President of the RAA, was a guest at the meeting. He and the nine Ruritan members present decided the RAA would sell soft drinks and the Ruritans would sell hot dogs, hamburgers and BBQ sandwiches during the auction. The silent auction will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the live auction to start at 3 p.m. Charlie Priest and Charlie Mills are the contact people for delivery and pick up of auction times.
The entrance sign design on Route 211 was also discussed with John Ferdetta. He presented a sketch for initial consideration which was agreed upon by motion and unanimous vote.
